Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC)
The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission is the independent public supervisory authority responsible for the supervision of the investment services market and transactions in transferable securities carried out in the Republic of Cyprus. Established in 2001, CySEC is a member of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and plays a pivotal role in the licensing and supervision of investment firms, including many internationally operating online brokers. It is the primary MiFID II-compliant regulator in Cyprus and issues passporting rights across the European Union.
