Central Bank of Egypt (CBE)

The Central Bank of Egypt is Egypt's monetary authority, responsible for formulating and implementing monetary policy, managing the banking system, and overseeing the payments infrastructure. Established in 1960, the CBE manages foreign exchange reserves, issues the Egyptian pound, and supervises commercial banks and other financial institutions. It has implemented significant financial inclusion and digitalization initiatives to expand access to financial services across Egypt.
