Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)

OFAC is a financial intelligence and enforcement agency of the U.S. Department of the Treasury that administers and enforces economic and trade sanctions. It acts under Presidential national emergency powers and specific legislation to impose controls on transactions with foreign countries, governments, entities, and individuals. OFAC's sanctions programs are used as a national security and foreign policy tool to combat terrorism, narcotics trafficking, and other threats.
