The Securities and Futures Commission is the statutory body established to regulate Hong Kong's securities and futures markets. Founded in 1989, the SFC is responsible for licensing financial intermediaries, regulating market conduct, and promoting Hong Kong as an international financial center. It oversees the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and derivatives markets and takes enforcement actions against insider dealing, market manipulation, and other securities law violations.
